In the Data Team Skynet, we develop machine learning models that make millions of decisions daily, automating important process steps within the company. We manage the entire development phase of a model, from initial prototyping to deployment in live systems. We are currently seeking motivated data scientists to enhance our team and lead exciting projects focused on Purchasing.
What impact do you have?
- Use your avdanced machine learning and algorithm skills to help us make smarter decisions about what products to restock, which suppliers to use, how much to order, and where to send it all.
- Work with time-series forecasting (e.g., product demand), LLMs (e.g., spotting seasonal trends), and reinforcement learning (e.g., optimizing purchasing and stocking).
- Take ideas from the brainstorming stage all the way to building prototypes and integrating them into our day-to-day operations.
- Tap into our GCP-based tools and infrastructure, including Big Query, Python, Airflow, Kubernetes, and Kafka, to bring your solutions to life.
- Focus on creating practical, scalable solutions that make our purchasing and inventory systems run smoother and more efficiently.
- Collaborate with other teams, learn from their feedback, and keep improving the way we do things.
- Experiment with new ML methods to keep our systems cutting-edge and adaptable.
- Aim for results that directly make a difference, whether it’s saving costs, improving operations, or making customers happier.
What do you offer?
- Completed degree (university / university of applied science / higher technical college) · in a relevant field.
- Experience · in a similar role.
- German (excellent knowledge), English (business fluent) ·
- University degree (ETH/UNI/FH) in a relevant field with coursework in software engineering, data science, machine learning, and statistics provides a strong foundation for this role.
- Advanced coding skills and the ability to develop production-ready software solutions are essential.
- Experience implementing machine learning models in Python using libraries like scikit-learn, darts, tensorflow, pytorch, pandas, polars, or rlgym is highly valued.
- Familiarity with supply chain management, retail, or cloud services (especially GCP) is a plus.
- You’re skilled at gathering requirements from both management and end-users, breaking down complex problems, and finding the most suitable solution—whether it’s an LLM, LightGBM model, or a simple heuristic.
- A sense of humor, a committed attitude, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment go a long way.
- German skills (B1 or higher) are helpful, and strong English skills are required.
